More about our educational illustration work.
Our educational illustration services produce textbook illustration, infographic illustration, workbook art, diagram design and classroom illustration for trade educational publishers, independent course creators and teacher-authors. The team holds a small group of illustrators with experience across STEM, humanities and early-years material. Most projects ship in three to seven weeks depending on scope.
What good textbook illustration actually does
Textbook illustration earns its space when it does work the prose can't. A diagram of a cell, a map of a campaign, a process flow for a chemical reaction — the illustration carries information the page would otherwise need three paragraphs to describe. Diagram design is paid attention work: labels sized for readability at the trim, lines weighted to match the textbook's typographic hierarchy, colours selected with colourblind readers in mind from the first sketch.
Infographic illustration tends to run longer and reach further than the original textbook. The publisher uses it in the book, the marketing team uses it on the website, the sales team uses it in the pitch deck. We build infographics in vector so they scale cleanly from a single column in a chapter to a billboard at a conference. Source files are delivered on request so your designer can update labels without coming back to us.
Workbook art and classroom-grade illustration
Workbook art has its own rules. The illustration has to leave room for the student to write, draw or stick in around it. Classroom illustration tends to need a flatter, bolder hand so it reads at a distance on a smartboard or printed at A3 for a wall. The same illustrator who paints a beautiful chapter opener is not necessarily the right one for a worksheet, and we'll assign accordingly.
Deliverables: print-ready PDF and PNG at the resolutions you specify, layered source files on request, alt text for accessible publishing, and full copyright assignment on final payment.
Questions we are asked.
Short, honest answers. Anything else, send to contact@ebookwriting.ai.
What does the starting figure include?
At ebookwriting.ai, the starting educational illustration fee of $260 covers a set of educational illustrations to your brief — diagrams, instructional figures, or character-led teaching scenes — with two revision rounds per illustration and final delivery in both print and digital formats.
How long does the work take?
Most sets run three to eight weeks, depending on illustration count and subject complexity. Scientific or medical illustrations sit at the longer end of that range because of the review cycle with subject-matter experts.
What if an illustration is technically wrong?
Subject-accuracy revisions are unlimited within scope — if a diagram is inaccurate it isn't finished. We schedule a subject-matter review before the polish stage so corrections happen on sketch rather than final art.
Who owns the illustrations?
You do. Full rights for textbook, classroom, and digital use transfer to you on final payment. We keep a portfolio copy unless you ask us not to.
What's in the final delivery?
Layered source files, print-ready CMYK exports, RGB exports for digital and presentation use, and an asset map listing file names against figure numbers so production can drop the art straight into your layout.
Can the illustrations be adapted for different age groups?
Yes. We can produce parallel versions — a simplified figure for younger readers, a fuller figure for older ones — sharing a common artwork core so the visual identity stays consistent across the range.
